From Our Gardens to Yours

Portage County Master Gardeners are dedicated to education and service, but we also love to garden.  Take a peek into our yards for ideas and inspiration!

Shade Gardens

Hostas, Astilbe, Bruneria, Bleeding Hearts, and Ostrich Ferns fill the shade below PCMG David's Red Oak trees, while American Highbush Cranberry and Dogwood fill the under-story.

Container Gardens

In this arrangement, Coleus is used as the "thriller" and Creeping Jenny is used as the "spiller".  The clay pot is raised off the deck using an upside clay pot to lift the arrangement, providing more visual interest.

Pollinator Gardens

PCMG Michele captured this female Monarch on a Purple Giant Hyssop at Point Beach Forest State Park.  Do you know how to identify a female Monarch?
